A Tribute to Charles Kennedy

You would have all heard by now the sad news about the passing of former MP Charles Kennedy, who died at the age of 55. Up until the recent General Election, he was the MP for Ross, Skye and Lochaber constituency.

Since the news of his death, there have been many tributes to the former MP, stating his passion for politics and his bravery in leading marches which opposed the Iraq War as well as the remarkable parliamentary gains he had made as leader of the Liberal Democrats. His career in politics span three decades and he certainly made his mark in speaking out for change as well as relating to the people by speaking human and being human.

He was indeed a remarkable MP who always represented the views of the people and did not just follow the status quo. As someone who is developing a career in politics, he was and will remain an admirable figure in that he achieved so much in so little time. Charles Kennedy definitely proved how you can make drastic change, both on a local and national scale by sticking to your guns and responding to the views and opinions of those he represented. I hope aspiring politicians such as myself can learn from his career and mirror the level of success he created within the UK political sphere.

He was taken away far too soon, and my thoughts go out to his family. RIP Charles Kennedy, gone but not forgotten.
